I painted this in one of my favorite spots: the airfield at McCarthy in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. What a view! I painted fast because the storm was coming my way. I beat it by seconds. The last stroke of paint was laid when the clouds overhead opened up. The shuttle bus driver remembered where she had left me, what I had been doing, and showed up like the cavalry! She even helped me scoop up all my gear and load it, dripping, onto the bus. What service!
